BP had been granted approval for the development of oil field in the North Sea. The oilfield named as Vorlich Field has been supposed to target 30 million barrels of Oil.

The field will be functioning in 2020 and was predicted to produce 20,000 barrels gross of oil equivalent a day at its peak.

It had been announced on Thursday that BP has received approval for the development of the Oilfield from Oil and Gas authority (OGA) in North Sea.

It said the £200m project is part of a program of North Sea subsea tie-back developments that seek to access important new production from fields located near to established producing infrastructure.

While Scott Robertson (North sea area manager at OGA) said : “The OGA has been actively involved through throughout the Vorlich project and is pleased to approve this development process to be processed.”
